Prof.ssa Eva Pericolini

Eva Pericolini, Associate Professor. Eva Pericolini graduated in Pharmacy in 2003 at the University of Perugia and obtained a Ph.D. in “Molecular pathogenesis, immunology and control of transmitting agents causing the principle diseases associated with poverty: malaria, AIDS and tuberculosis” in 2010 at the University of Perugia, Department of Experimental Medicine. She worked as a post doc at the Microbiology section of the University of Perugia from 2010 to 2016.

From December 2016 to April 2020 she was employed at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia as Assistant Professor.

Actually, She is employed at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia as Associate Professor.

During her career she focalized her efforts in investigating different aspects of the immunity to fungal infections by using in vitro, ex-vivo and in vivo models. The main topic of her work concerned the study of the mucosal immune response to Candida during vulvovaginal candidiasis and oropharyngeal candidiasis.

Currently, her research topics focalize on all the aspects of the host-pathogen interplay, in particular on the immune response to virulence traits of fungi and bacteria.

Moreover, she is particularly involved in understanding the interactions of microbiota with vaginal mucosa during health and dysbiosis.
