
Postdoctoral Researcher
Luca Spaggiari is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Surgical, Medical, Dental and Morphological Sciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. After completing a Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnology, he earned a PhD in Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the same university. His research focuses on developing innovative strategies for the treatment of vaginal infections caused by Candida albicans.
During his PhD, he conducted research both in Italy and abroad, including a visiting research stay at the University of Maine (USA), where he studied host–fungus interactions.
He has been invited to speak at academic seminars and public outreach events on topics such as vaginal candidiasis and the human microbiota. He is the author or co-author of several scientific articles published in international peer-reviewed journals and has presented his work at both national and international conferences.
His main research interests include microbiota–host–pathogen interactions, with a particular focus on the vaginal niche and the role of probiotics.
