Biography:
Irene Venturelli is a Medical Doctor specializing in Microbiology and Virology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where she is developing clinical and diagnostic expertise in bacteriology, virology, mycology and parasitology. She previously worked in primary care, general practice clinics, residential care facilities, and as a medical officer for blood and blood-component donation services, gaining a solid background in clinical management and patient care.
Her research interests include antimicrobial resistance, bloodstream infections, emerging pathogens and diagnostic stewardship. She has contributed to several abstracts presented at national congresses (AMCLI, SIM) and co-authored peer-reviewed publications on carbapenemase-producing Citrobacter freundii, strategies against oral biofilm formation, necrotizing fasciitis, and occupational exposure in MRI personnel. She is a member of AMCLI and SIM and serves as resident representative for the School of Microbiology and Virology in Modena.
