Emma Santo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques from the University of Bologna and a Master’s Degree in Molecular and cellular Biology from the University of Ferrara, obtained in 2019 and 2022 respectively. Since 2021, she has been working as a laboratory technician at the Modena Unit of the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna, specifically in the molecular virology field.

In 2024 she enrolled at the Postgraduate School of Microbiology and Virology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia to widen her knowledges on the field of clinical microbiology.
