After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, I was first introduced to the field of microbiology during an internship at the University of Parma, where I worked with lactic acid bacteria. Following the completion of my Master’s degree in Industrial Biotechnology, I began my PhD working at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Lombardia e dell’Emilia Romagna, focusing on enterobacteria. My PhD research involved the use of molecular biology, genetic engineering, sequencing, and both in vitro and in vivo experiments to investigate the genetic determinants responsible for host adaptation in Salmonella. After obtaining my PhD, I have worked at the same institute as a researcher, contributing to several projects focused on enterobacteria. I am currently also attending the specialization school in Microbiology and Virology of the University of Modena e Reggio Emilia to broaden my knowledge of all infectious agents of medical importance.
